Book on Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari hits Russian bookstores

TEHRAN – Russian scholar Ismail Ibatullin has completed a book about the political life story of university lecturer Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari.
Entitled “Morteza Motahhari and the Islamic Revolution of Iran”, the book has recently been published by Moscow-based Sadra Publications.

The book composed of two chapters has been published under the auspices of the Russian Foundation for Islamic Studies.


Iran to send 350 Persian titles of children’s books to Frankfurt fair

TEHRAN – A selection of 350 titles of children’s books will go on display at Iran’s pavilion during the 69th Frankfurt Book Fair, which will be held from October 14 to 18.

The books have been chosen out of 1000 nominees by a team of experts commissioned by the Cultural Association of Children and Young Adult Book Publishers, the Persian service of ILNA reported on Saturday.


Iranian short among top ten films at U.S. festival

TEHRAN – Iranian filmmaker Mehdi Fardgaderi’s “The Story of a Rainy Night” was selected for the Top Ten Best Shorts list at the 10th Harlem International Film Festival, which was held in New York from September 9 to 13.

Produced by the Iranian Young Cinema Society (IYCS), the film tells the story of an old man and some events that takes place on his birthday.

The other nine shortlisted movies include “Tom in America” directed by Flavio Alves, “The Dangle” by Michael E. Ravich and “Before the Bomb” by Tannaz Hazemi.


“When I Was a Child” wins award at Kazan film festival

TEHRAN - “When I Was a Child” directed by Maryam Kashkulinia has been selected as best animated film at the 11th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival.

The movie tells the story of a middle-aged Iranian woman who makes colorful reviews of her childhood.

The festival was held in the capital of the Tartar Autonomous Republic, Russia from September 5 to 11.


Armenian exhibition showcases photos of Persepolis

TEHRAN – The Armenian village of Areguni is playing host to an exhibition of photos of the ruins of Persepolis, a capital of the Achaemenid Empire.

The director of Iran’s Research Institute for Cultural Heritage and Tourism (RICHT) Seyyed Mohammad Beheshti and some other officials from the two countries attended the opening ceremony, the RICHT announced in a press release on Saturday.

Persepolis is located 60 kilometers northeast of the city of Shiraz in Fars Province.


Chinese ambassador meets director of Iran’s Radio Farhang

TEHRAN -- Chinese Ambassador Pang Sen met with the director of Iran’s Radio Farhang, Mohammad-Sadeq Rahmanian, and praised the program “Pearl of the East” on Saturday.

“Pearl of the East” is a joint program of Iran’s Radio Farhang and China National Radio to familiarize Iranians with the culture and civilization of China.
