TEHRAN - A senior Iranian diplomat announced on Monday that Iran has not given a permit to Saudi Arabia to bury Iranian pilgrims who were killed in a stampede near Mecca on Thursday.

“No permission has been given to Saudi Arabia to bury Iranians,” said Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs.
On Monday the Iranian interior minister said the number of pilgrims died in Mina, near the holy city of Mecca, are far more than the figure announced by Saudi officials.
Amir-Abdollahian also said, “No decision has been made on burying the Iranians killed in the Mina incident in holy Mecca.”
Amir-Abdollahian added the families are waiting to receive the body of their beloved ones and a determination of those missing.
