TEHRAN - The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) will be observing the conditions recently laid by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in exchanging enriched uranium, spokesman Behrooz Kamalvandi said on Sunday.

In a letter to President Hassan Rouhani last week, the Leader asked the government to observe some points in implementing the JCPOA, commonly known as the nuclear deal.

“The deal with a foreign government for swapping enriched uranium with yellow cake will start only after a secure agreement has been clinched to that effect, along with sufficient guarantees [for its implementation]. The aforesaid deal and exchange must be done on a gradual basis and on numerous occasions,” the letter read.

Pointing out that Iran and Russia are signing contracts for uranium exchange, Kamalvandi gave assurances that Iran-Russia relations are friendly and the two sides enjoy mutual trust, Nasim reported.

“We will do our best to form the contracts in a way to avoid all possible problems and misunderstandings,” Kamalvandi stressed.
