Leftover landmine kills Iranian child

TEHRAN – An Iranian child was killed in a landmine explosion near the city of Sardasht in the northwestern province of West Azerbaijan, IRNA reported on Tuesday.
The incident happened on Monday as three children found a landmine remaining from the Iran-Iraq war near the border with Iraq and started playing with it, said Mir Ashkan Mahdavi, a local official.
As a result of the landmine explosion, an 8-year-old boy was killed, while two others were wounded.
