Iran, Oman discuss confronting dust storms

TEHRAN – Iran’s cultural attaché to Oman Mohammadreza Nouri Shahroudi and Oman’s Minister of Environment and Climate Affairs Mohammed bin Salim bin Said al-Toobi discussed ways to combat the issue of dust storms during a meeting in Muscat on Tuesday.

Iran is combatting dust storms in different ways, however, it is a common problem in the region, Shahroudi said during the meeting, IRNA reported.

The Omani minister for his part stressed the need for regional cooperation to protect environment and deal with dust storms.

Sand and dust storms mostly originated from hotspots in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and Central Asia are adversely affecting Iranian cities adjacent to the aforesaid areas and causing great discomfort for dwellers.
