KUWAIT CITY -- Iran and Kuwait will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) during the upcoming visit to Kuwait by Interior Minister Abdolvahed Mousavi Lari, said the Interior Ministry's Director General for Political Affairs Javad Haqshenas here on Wednesday.
Speaking to IRNA, he said that under the MOU, Tehran and Kuwait are to cooperate in the anti-drug campaign, organized crimes, border checks and facilitate issuance of visas for the nationals of the two countries.
At their meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday, experts from the two sides studied and exchanged views on the draft of the MOU which is aimed at broadening mutual cooperation prior to reaching final agreement, he said.
Expansion of Iran's cooperation with foreign countries is based on creating understanding among neighboring and regional states and is pursued in accordance with President Mohammad Khatami's declared policy of detente,'' he said.
Iran's Interior Ministry is willing to take practical steps on the issue, he said.
