Swedish Iranian Film Festival unveils lineup

TEHRAN – The Iranian Film Festival in the Swedish cities of Uppsala and Stockholm has announced its lineup.

Thirteen films will be competing in the festival, which will run on September 22 and 23.

Among the highlights of the lineup are “Blockage” by director Mohsen Qarai, “Israfil” by Ida Panahandeh, “Majan” by Rahman Seifi-Azad and “August” by Bahman Kamyar. 

“Like a Good Kid” by Arian Vazirdaftari, “Animal” co-directed by Bahram and Bahman Ark, “Are You Volleyball?!” by Mohammad Bakhshi, and “Horn” by Qasideh Golmakani are among the shorts.

The festival is organized every year by Yari, an Uppsala-based charity organization that helps street children in Iran to go to school and also raises funds for the construction of schools and libraries for children.

Actor Pejman Bazeghi, who is a Yari ambassador this year, cineastes Mohsen Kiai, Bahman Kamyar, Javad Hashemi, Yaqub Keshavarz and Roya Bamzar will be the special guests of the festival. 

Mikael Hylin from Sweden and Iranian cineastes Alireza Mojalla, Reza Baqer, Saeid Sharifian and Mina Azarian will judge the films this year.
