Australia’s SmartFone Flick Fest to host two Iranian films

TEHRAN-Two films from Iran are among the finalists of the SmartFone Flick Fest, known as SF3, vying for the best feature film award.

“A Long Afternoon” directed by Sohibanoo Zolghadr and “My Hero” by Morteza Atashzamzam are the Iranian flicks competing with nine other movies at SF3, which will be held in Australia, November 16 and 17, ILNA reported.

A production of 2023, “A Long Afternoon” is a one-shot film about Maryam and her husband Saeid who created an innovative engraving software together. After they get divorced, Maryam plans to make good money by selling it – and hiding all the important details from her ex-husband. What she does not know is that Saeid is aware of her plan and is toying with her. However, none of them is aware that Maryam is also being monitored by the police.

A one-shot film is a full-length movie filmed in one long take by a single camera, or manufactured to give the impression it was.

Iranian actress, producer and director Sohibanoo Zolghadr, 44, has been working in film industry for almost a decade and a half, ever since her acting debut in 2009 in a TV series.

She has acted both on TV series and films. She played a noted supporting role in Asghar Farhadi’s 2011 drama “A Separation”. While she continues to work tirelessly as an actress – Sohibanoo is increasingly active as an independent author. “A Long Afternoon” is her second directorial achievement.

“My Hero” directed by Morteza Atashzamzam narrates the story of children during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The movie won the Golden Butterfly for the best direction and best screenplay at the 35th International Film Festival for Children and Youth in October.

A film director and producer, Atashzamzam, 45, has directed and produced more than forty independent films, documentaries, and television series.

SF3 is Australia’s international smartphone film festival and one of the leading and most innovative film festivals in the world.

It is a platform for filmmakers of all ages from every country; from first-time filmmakers to professionals and from kids and teens all the way to adults as long as their film is shot entirely on a smartphone or tablet.
