TEHRAN- Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, has said that Tehran and Moscow demanded an immediate end to the conflict and slaughter in Gaza and the West Bank.

Amir Abdollahian tweeted in Farsi on his account on Friday, referring to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s one-day visit to Moscow, saying the Iranian and Russian presidents conducted crucial talks and meetings in the Kremlin for five hours.

He continued that Russia is considering taking an initiative on Gaza and that the Palestinian issue constituted a large portion of the discussions.

He said that the presidents of Iran and Russia had also called for an immediate end to the forced migration of Gazans and the opening of the Rafah border to allow the massive delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gazan people. 

Both sides have emphasized the need for an immediate cessation of the war and genocide in Gaza and the West Bank.

He emphasized that during the meeting, the two parties discussed a wide range of bilateral issues and shared perspectives on how to work together in the areas of industry, tourism, science, technology, banking, transportation, agriculture, energy, and both regional and global cooperation.

At the meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on Thursday afternoon, President Raisi said it is “essential” to immediately stop the Israeli “genocide” in the Gaza Strip.

“What is happening in Gaza is a genocide and crime against humanity and it is the cause of pain and worry that more than 6000 children have been martyred at the hands of the Zionist regime,” Raisi pointed out.

He also said what is more painful is that the United States and other Western countries are backing the Zionist regime in its crimes in Gaza and the international bodies and the self-proclaimed human rights organizations have lost their relevance.

The Iranian president said the cruelty against the people of Gaza has “turned into the greatest headache for humanity in today’s world”.

He added, “Gaza is a land in which one child is martyred every 10 minutes.”

The president went on to say that unilateralism and unfair global order are “causing pain for humanity” that an example of which can be clearly noticed in the war on Gaza.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Raisi said Iran and Russia have established good cooperation in areas of energy, agriculture, and knowledge-based companies and “better steps can be taken in line with the interests of the two countries and nations.”

Expressing delight over the growing ties, Raisi said cooperation with Russia is “highly important” in line with Iran’s “policy of neighborliness.”
