LEEDS, England Leeds United and England goalkeeper Nigel Martyn has defended AC Milan's Dida after his disastrous last-minute mistake at Elland Road on Tuesday.
The Brazilian 'keeper allowed a speculative shot from Leeds midfielder Lee Bowyer to slip through his hands to gift the English Premier League club a surprise 1-0 victory in Champions League Group H.
The match was played in heavy rain and martyn said: "It's not as easy as it looks.
"In any other conditions, Dida would have saved the shot comfortably.
But the rain and slippery surfaces made it awkward.
"It was a difficult night for goalkeepers." Leeds' win and Turkish club Besiktas's shock 3-0 victory over Barcelona on Tuesday has left the four clubs in Group H with three points each after the opening two rounds.
Milan travel to Barcelona and Leeds entertain Besiktas next Tuesday.
