Iranian envoy terms growing ties with Azerbaijan as satisfactory
He told IRNA that several cooperation agreements on economic projects, campaign against border trafficking, military and technical matters, energy and swap of gas have been signed by the officials of both sides during the one-year period.
"The visit of Azeri President Ilham Aliyev to Tehran, that of Iranian ministers of health and treatment, information and defense to Baku as well as the meetings of the presidents and foreign ministers of the two countries have expedited the growing process of mutual relations.
"Besides, Iran and Azerbaijan cooperate in the fields of transport of goods within the framework of North-South Corridor and TRASICA," he added.
He noted that the negotiations between the officials of two states about the Caspian Sea over the period have been fruitful and a remarkable progress has been made in this respect.
The Iranian diplomat noted that the future of such talks are promising.
"Continuing exchange of views between Iranian and Azeri officials and cooperation in various political and economic domains strengthen bilateral ties between the two friendly neighboring countries.
"At the recent meeting of the foreign ministers of the two states, an agreement was signed to entitle the Iranians to a one-month entry visa to Azerbaijan free of charge, which has to be approved by the Azeri National Assembly," he added.
Soleymani put the annual value of trade exchanges between the two countries at 450 million dollars.
"The contract on sale of 600 Samand cars to Azerbaijan was signed recently and the project on its assembly in the Azeri city of Shamakhi is being pursued.
"Given the little information of Azeri people on Iran's potentials and developments in industrial, economic and cultural sectors, acquainting them with our national facilities will pave the way for further expansion of ties," concluded Soleymani.
