TEHRAN - Some 2600 psychologists and advisors from various Iranian universities have signed a statement in reaction to Washington’s repeated military threats against Iran and efforts to inject psychological instability into the Iranian society.

Voicing support for the Islamic Republic and Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the signatories dismissed Washington’s positions as symbols of liberal capitalism and the Machiavellian logic, emphasizing that today’s confrontation is one between two ideological systems and two types of civilizational logic.

The psychologists and advisors have called on the Iranian people to maintain their faith, tranquility, hope, unity and social solidarity, stressing that the future belongs to the nations which will not capitulate to pressure, despair, or pessimism.

They condemned U.S. officials’ threatening and humiliating language against Iranians, expressing their backing for Iranian officials and the Leader.

The statement comes amid significant American military buildup across the West Asia region, including the Persian Gulf, coupled with repeated threats by U.S. President Donald Trump of fresh military aggression against Iran.

Iranian officials have reacted to the developments and threatening rhetoric with stern warnings against renewed foreign aggression against the country.

In the meantime, Tehran has, time and again, underlined its intention to resolve existing tensions and differences through diplomacy and dialogue on an equal footing.
