Putin says Iran-Russia strategic partnership should be strengthened

TEHRAN – President Vladimir Putin of Russia said on Saturday that the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Tehran and Moscow should be strengthened.

Putin made the remarks in a message to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian congratulating him on the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

Noting that relations between Russia and Iran are based on friendship and good neighborliness, Putin said, “Russia backs Iran’s efforts in guarding its sovereignty, protecting legitimate interests, and providing security for the country in the current complicated international situation.”

He also wished success for the Iranian president and happiness for the entire Iranian population.
