“Farther Than the Moon” appears at Iranian bookstores
TEHRAN- A Persian translation of the award-winning author Lindsay Lackey’s “Farther Than the Moon” has recently been published by Milkan Publications in Tehran.
The book has been translated into Persian by Rosa Hosseini.
“Farther Than the Moon” is a heartfelt and inspiring middle-grade novel about dreams, family, and resilience. It tells the story of thirteen-year-old Houston Stewart, who has always dreamed of becoming an astronaut.
When he is accepted into the highly competitive Junior Astronaut Recruitment Program, it feels like his chance to finally reach for the stars. But there’s one big challenge: Houston wishes he could bring his younger brother Robbie along on this incredible journey.
Since their father left, Houston and Robbie have been inseparable. Their bond is deep, and their shared love of space blurs the lines between their individual dreams. However, Robbie lives with cerebral palsy and epilepsy, which means he requires constant medical care and attention at home. Because of this, Houston must face the demanding program without his brother by his side.
At the camp, Houston quickly finds himself drawn into a new world filled with cosmic adventures, new friendships, and even a surprising connection to a long-lost grandfather. The experience is thrilling but also challenging. The rigorous demands of the program push Houston to his limits, forcing him to confront a difficult truth: Robbie may never be able to visit space or participate in the way they both once imagined.
Despite this heartbreaking reality, Houston refuses to give up on honoring Robbie’s dream. He understands that sometimes dreams need to change shape but that does not mean they have to disappear. Like a true astronaut facing the unknown, Houston dares to make a new plan—one that aims beyond what seems possible and reaches for the stars in a different way.
“Farther Than the Moon” is a moving story about family love, determination, and redefining what it means to chase your dreams when life does not go as planned. It explores themes of disability, sibling bonds, and hope with warmth and honesty.
Through Houston’s journey, Lindsay Lackey reminds readers that sometimes the greatest adventures happen not in outer space but in the heart—and that love can propel us farther than we ever thought possible.
Lindsay Lackey’s debut novel, “All the Impossible Things,” was named a Best Book of 2019 by the New York Public Library, the Denver Library, and Children’s Book Review. While conducting research for her second novel, “Farther Than the Moon,” Lindsay fell in love with space and NASA history.
