Oil Flows From 300th Well in Gachsaran

GACHSARAN, Kohkilouyeh-Boyerahmad Province Oil flew from the 300th well in the Gachsaran oil fields in this southwestern province at the weekend, according to an official with the regional oil and gas company.
The official told IRNA that the well has a production capacity of 2,000 barrels of oil per day.
So far 300 oil wells have been drilled in Gachsaran's seven oil fields which enjoy a length of 700km and a width of 6 to 15km.
Oil first flew from well No. 13 in Gachsaran in 1939 and gas injection since 1977 has contributed to additional flow of oil from 16 wells in the fields.
According to experts the Gachsaran oil fields provide 25 percent of the country's oil production totalling some 3.3 million barrels per day.
