BANDA ACEH, Indonesia -- Seven people including two women have been killed in Indonesia's troubled Aceh Province, military officials and rebels said Saturday.

Four Free Aceh Movement (GAM) members were shot dead in a skirmish Friday in the Jambo Campli area of East Aceh district, military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Zainal Muttaqin said.

But local GAM spokesman Ishak Daud said the victims were civilians who were shot while working in a rubber plantation. He also said five men remained missing after being arrested by soldiers.

Muttaqin said residents on Friday found an unidentified body bearing gunshot wounds in Suka Makmur in East Aceh.

He also said rebels had shot dead a 55-year-old woman in Bireuen district on Friday, AFP reported.

Another GAM spokesman, Teungku Jamaica, said troops shot dead a 29-year-old woman Thursday in Blang Pulo in North Aceh after they suspected her of being a member of the group's female troops unit.

More than 600 people have been killed this year in violence involving separatist rebels of the Free Aceh Movement and government security forces.

An estimated 10,000 people have been killed since the separatist revolt began in 1976.

The military commander in Aceh has asked for 2,000 extra troops to fight the rebels. Jakarta said the demand was still being studied.
