TEHRAN -- First Vice-President Mohammadreza Aref here on Saturday urged the World Customs Organization to care for the interests of the developing states in its decisions and programs, IRNA reported.

Aref told Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Michel Danet that Iran is ready to continue cooperation with the World Customs Organization.

He said Iran based its foreign policy on expansion of relations with the World Customs Organization to help establish durable peace, security and development in the region and the world by regional and global organizations, including the World Customs Organization.

He said the Third Five-Year Economic Development Plan (2000- 2005) of Iran is based on restructuring different sectors, including improvement and mechanization of customs affairs.

He expressed Iran's desire to benefit from the World Customs Organization's experiences in process of improving customs affairs in Iran.
