Iran names new ambassadors to Lebanon, Algeria
TEHRAN - Iran has named its new ambassadors to Lebanon and Algeria.
Mohammadreza Raoof Sheibani has been appointed Iran’s new ambassador to Lebanon, and Nasser Kan’ani the Iranian ambassador to Algeria.
Previously, Mohammadreza Babaei and Mojtaba Amani served as envoys to Algeria and Lebanon, respectively.
Raoof Sheibani, Iran’s new ambassador to Beirut, who recently served as the Iranian foreign minister’s special envoy on Syria, used to be Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon, Syria and Tunisia as well as the Iranian accredited ambassador to Libya.
Also, Nasser Kan’ani previously served as Iran’s ambassador to Jordan and the head of the Interests Section of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Egypt. He also served as the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson from 2022 to 2024.
The two top diplomats were seen off by President Masoud Pezeshkian in a ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
