Anniversary of the Guardian Council formation honored

TEHRAN- The establishment of the Constitutional Council was marked on July 17. The council was formed on July 17, 1980. It consists of 12 members: six jurists and six law experts. The jurists are appointed by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the lawyers by the Parliament. The chief duty of the Constitutional Council to make sure that parliamentary ratifications are in harmony with Islamic sharia and the Constitution.
