 Iranian-American activist says she used civil disobedience to challenge U.S. sanctions that she believes are harming Iranian civilians.

TEHRAN - Isabella Javidan, an Iranian-American staff member of the National Iranian American Council (NIAC), says she interrupted U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s testimony on September 15 to challenge what she described as Washington’s portrayal of sanctions as merely “technocratic tools,” arguing that they have “real human consequences.”
