Iran calls on UNESCO to protect Trans-Iranian Railway from Israeli threats
TEHRAN- Iran’s Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, Reza Salehi-Amiri, has formally urged UNESCO to condemn threats by the Israeli regime against the Trans-Iranian Railway (TIR), a UNESCO World Heritage site. In a letter to UNESCO Director-General Khaled al-Anani, Salehi-Amiri expressed deep concern that any attack on the railway would constitute an assault on global cultural heritage and endanger civilian lives.

Home to over 1000 nationally-registered properties, Golestan eyes UNESCO status for its Great Wall
TEHRAN – The Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department of Iran’s Golestan province has so far registered more than 1,000 historical, cultural and natural sites on the country’s national heritage list, the provincial director said on Thursday.

Trans-Iranian Railway among top 5 registered by UNESCO
TEHRAN—Only five railways are on the UNESCO list, which are from Austria, India, Switzerland, Italy, and Iran, said Vahidali Qardashi, head of the World Heritage Site of the Trans-Iranian Railway.
