Daewoo Engineering wins $610.6m order from Qatar

SEOUL (Reuters) - Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd. said Wednesday that it had signed a final contract with Qatar Petroleum to build a shipyard in Qatar worth $610.6 million.

In a filing with the Korea Exchange, Daewoo put the value of the order at 895.1 billion won, as of Tuesday’s exchange rate.
Daewoo said that the project would be completed by the end of December 2009.
In December 2007, Qatar Gas Transport Co. which is controlled by Qatar Petroleum, said it had awarded the order to Daewoo, the London-based magazine Middle East Economic Digest reported.
