TEHRAN -- The developers of Iranian computer game “Garshasp Gorz-e-Serit” will be honored by cultural officials during a ceremony at the Andisheh Hall of Tehran’s Art Bureau on November 9.
The computer game will be unveiled during a ceremony which will also be attended by the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini and officials from Iran National Foundation of Computer Games. The game is based on “Garshaspnama” (c. 1064-66 AD) which was composed by Abu Mansur Ali ibn Ahmad Asadi Tusi and “most of the images and scenes depicted in this game are drawn from or based directly upon historical resources,” as is claimed on the game’s website.
The major work of Asadi Tusi “Garshaspnama” is about the adventures of the Iranian hero Garshasp, who is identified in the Shahnameh with the ancient Iranian hero Kereshasp in Avesta.
The game is about “Years after the confinement of Azhi Dahaka by Fereydun, the devils who were the commanders in the army of darkness led by Azhi Dahaka rose again. Garshasp’s brother was killed while defending his homeland, so Garshap starts out in pursuit of revenge for his brother’s blood and his adventures begin.”
The game has been under development by the Fanafzar Sharif Game Studios since 2006.
It is a 3rd-person action-adventure game taking place in mythological ancient Persia, in a world occupied by monsters and evil.
“The main challenges of the game revolve around melee combat, puzzle solving and exploration,” as is mentioned on the website.
