TEHRAN – Baghdad has appointed a new ambassador to Tehran, according to Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmad Mahjoub.

Mahjoub announced in a statement on Friday that Sa'ad Jawad Qandeel will replace Rajeh al-Mousavi as Iraq’s ambassador to Iran, according to IRNA.

Al-Mousavi was recalled by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry following the circulation of a video in which he was quarreling with a number of Iraqi citizens a few days earlier.

Jawad Qandeel has formerly served as Iraqi ambassador in some other countries.
