Tehran strongly condemns terrorist attack in Turkey

TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi on Saturday denounced a recent terrorist attack in Turkey’s southeastern province of Batman, expressed Tehran’s deepest sympathy to the Turkish nation and families of the lost and wounded soldiers, Mehr reported.

Eight Turkish soldiers were killed and two others wounded in the attack by the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) on Thursday in Batman, according to local reports.

In a statement, the Batman Governor’s Office said, “The terrorists detonated an improvised explosive planted in the road when an armored military vehicle was passing through the rural area of Gercus district.”
