Zarif lauds Iraqi officials’ stance toward Iran

TEHRAN – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Sunday that the Iraqi authorities’ positive stances toward Tehran will help improve ties between Iran and Iraq.

Heading a politico-economic delegation, Zarif arrived in Baghdad on Sunday, IRNA reported.

“In this trip, we plan to explore the areas of expansion of relations and cooperation,” he told reporters.

According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi, senior managers of several state and private sector companies are accompanying Zarif during the trip.

Holding talks with high-ranking Iraqi officials, taking part in Iran-Iraq joint trade conferences in Karbala and Sulaymaniyah are also on Zarif's itinerary.
