Safavi: Enemies Seeking Domestic Alternative to Replace System
January 2, 2001 - 0:0
TEHRAN Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Rahim Safavi, said here on Sunday that enemies are in search of an alternative from inside the country to replace the Iranian system.
Addressing a nationwide gathering of clerics in charge of Leader's representative bureaus in the IRGC, the major general added that enemies are trying to choose their designees from those who are politically and culturally liberal-minded and advocate the thesis of separation of religion from politics.
General Safavi further said that enemies are focusing on those who have liberal thoughts as their background but are under the guise of religion.
Enemies by pursuing this tactic are attempting to undermine the values and ideals of the Islamic Revolution as well, the IRGC commander pointed out.
