President Attends Iftar Ceremony Held in Gol Aqa' Office

TEHRAN -- President Mohammad Khatami attended an Iftar (fast breaking) ceremony held here Thursday by the managing director of the weekly satire magazine Gol Aqa Kiumars Saberi.

In his annual Iftar ceremonies, Saberi invites over 120 ranking political officials, and for the first time in the last three years President Khatami attended.

If an invitee does not participate in Saberi's Iftar ceremonies for three continuous years without any logical reason, his name will be excluded from the list of guests. Last year Saberi said he will exclude the name of the president if he does not attend next time.

The Minister of Interior Abdolvahed Mousavi Lari, his deputy Mostafa Tajzadeh, Culture and Guidance Minister Ataollah Mohajerani and other top officials were among the guests.

Saberi also invites former ranking officials to Iftar. While joking, he said to the guests that the reason he invites former officials and those currently in power is if anyone of the formers comes to power he may support him. nt if he does not attend next time.
