Thousands of Muslims in the Spanish colony of Melilla, in NW Africa, staged a demonstration on Saturday night against the Zionist regime and in support of the brave Palestinian nation.

A Muslim resident of the city told IRNA that some 5,000 Muslims took part in the demonstration, but the Spanish police put the number of demonstrators at 2,000.

The demonstrators set fire to a flag of the Zionist entity and read out a resolution in support of the Intifada, or uprising, of the oppressed Palestinians, stressing that the slogan "Allah-o-Akbar", or Allah is the greatest, is the only solution to the Palestinian issue.

The Muslims taking part in the demonstration also carried placards calling the Zionist entity a criminal regime.

In their final resolution, the Melilla Muslims expressed their readiness to travel to Palestine and protect the Palestinians against the Zionist bullets. They also stressed Muslim unity in the face of Zionist atrocities and called for the severance of relations between certain Islamic countries and the Zionist regime, the implementation of UN resolutions in support of the Palestinians rights, protection of the Islamic holy sites in Palestine and formation of a Palestinian government with Bait-ul-Moqaddas as its capital.

The demonstrators condemned the U.S. blind support for the Zionist regime and called for an end to the immigration of Jews to the occupied territories and the construction of new Jewish settlements there.

With the escalation of Zionist brutalities against the innocent Palestinians, Muslims in different parts of the world are holding rallies and demonstrations in support of the Palestinian nation and calling on their governments to pave the way for the extension of assistance to this oppressed nation.

Considering the worldwide support for their uprising against occupiers of their homeland, the oppressed Palestinians are continuing their Intifada with a higher morale and expecting to liberate their homeland from the Zionist occupation in the near future.
