Iran acquires technology for diesel engines manufacturing
"Currently we are capable of manufacturing diesel engines in Iran and are waiting for the removal of the prohibition law against such engines on sedans to start mass production. Of course if internal use is not approved, due to the high requests of foreign markets, we will start mass production," announced the managing director of Mega Motors Co.
Najmeddin added that the diesel engines manufactured in this company had 110ph and 220n/m.
This official in answer to the question that why the application of diesel engines was forbidden in Iran while more than 60 percent of European cars had diesel engines, said that the utilization of these engines in sedans had been prohibited in Iran's previous regime and that Iran's Department of Environment believed that Iran's gasoline was not suitable enough to be used as a fuel.
"We should construct refineries that can give us gasoline with lower sulfur," suggested Najmeddin.
"Currently the amount of sulfur in Iran's gasoline is 5000ppm but European applies 50ppm gasoline. Presently the urban buses consume the 500ppm gasoline and the problems will be solved if the sedans also use this type of gasoline," said Mega Motors director.
