Tehran will respond to EU nuclear package by Aug. 22
The five permanent members of the Security Council – Britain, France, Russia, China, and the U.S. – plus Germany presented the package to Iran on June 6 in a bid to end the row over the country’s nuclear program.
Elham, who talked to reporters at his weekly briefing, added, “When the Europeans offered their package of proposals, they asked us to thoroughly study it and the United Nations secretary general (Kofi Annan) told us to give response to it after careful assessment.
“We will respond to the Europeans’ package after accurate survey at due time – by Aug. 22.”
The spokesman urged the Europeans to fulfill their promises and help settle Iran’s nuclear case.
“The parties involved in Iran’s nuclear case must abide by the law and correct their behavior.”
