Concerns over Iran nuclear program politically motivated: speaker

TEHRAN — In an interview with a Swiss TV channel on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 117th Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva, the Iranian Majlis speaker insisted that “fake concerns” behind Iran’s nuclear activities are “politically motivated.”

“The IAEA inspectors and officials have declared many times that no diversion has been noticed in Iran’s nuclear activities and we have also repeatedly declared that we have no intention to develop a nuclear bomb. So we believe that there are political motivations behind fake concerns over Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.”
On a potential U.S. attack on Iran, Haddad-Adel said it is very unlikely that U.S. wage a war against Iran because its attacks on Iraq and Afghanistan have born no fruit.
Furthermore, he insisted, the Iranian nation has proven that it would defend its inalienable rights vigorously in case of any armed conflict.
Asked about the French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner’s recent remarks against Iran, the Majlis speaker answered, “We are sorry to hear such contradictory comments from our French friends and recommend them to act independently because the dignity of the French nation is beyond that of following the Americans.”
