LAHORE (APP)-- The 6th Men’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey 2008 that was slated for October 11-19 will now be held from July 8-18 at Hyderabad, India, according to a fax message received here Wednesday from the Asian Hockey Federation.

Teams from ten countries are taking part in the competition which will be a qualifying tournament for the 9th Men’s Junior World Cup to be organized jointly by Malaysia and Singapore in 2009.
Besides host India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, Chinese-Taipei, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Oman and Sri Lanka will be the other participants in this qualifying event. Top three teams will qualify for next year’s Junior World Cup.
The Asian Hockey Federation has stipulated that only those players born on or after 1st January 1987 will be eligible to participate in the tournament.
Each participating country shall nominate one umpire but this nomination will be subject to the approval by the AHF Umpiring Committee.
In addition to that, appointment of Technical Officers and Judges will be made by the AHF Competition Committee in accordance with the quotas set out in the Responsibility Chart.
The final selection of the Technical Officials will be at the discretion of Asian Hockey Federation and International Hockey Federation (FIH).
