TEHRAN – Iran is prepared to broaden its agricultural services to Malawi, the Agricultural Jihad Ministry reported here on Tuesday.

During her meet with Iran’s Agricultural Jihad Minister Mohammadreza Eskandari, the Malawian Minister of Foreign Affairs Joyce Banda expressed her country’s willingness to benefit more from Iran’s technical and scientific experiences in the field of agriculture.
Tobacco, soybean, rice, corn, nuts, and wheat are the main agro products of Malawi, she said calling for benefiting from notable achievements of Iran in the wheat sector.
Animal breeding and vaccination, modern methods of irrigation, flood control, and overcoming drought situations are of the other fields Malawi needs Iran’s experiences.
Eskandari, for his part, said that the research and educational centers of the Agricultural Jihad Ministry are geared to contribute to the agricultural development of Malawi, voicing the ministry’s readiness for granting scholarships to Malawian university students for short- and long-term educational courses.
Banda also met her Iranian counterpart, Manuchehr Mottaki, saying Iran has made surprising progress in various fields.
According to Press TV, Banda stated that despite the hostile propaganda against Iran, the Islamic Republic's status has been constantly on the rise in the world public opinion.
Mottaki said that a scheduled visit by the Malawian president to Iran would open a new chapter in bilateral cooperation and prepare the ground for consolidation of ties, particularly in economic fields.
He voiced Iran's readiness to transfer its experience to Malawi in the agriculture and various other sectors, including implementation of hydro-power and other types of electricity generation projects.
