TEHRAN -- The Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) has arranged several Quranic activities during the month of Ramazan in a number of foreign countries.

In a press conference held here on Tuesday, ICRO cultural deputy Mahmud Vaezi elaborated on the programs of the organization and said, “Thirty years of religious government and democracy has proved that the Holy Quran is the origin of both our beliefs and our laws. The Quran has enjoyed a primary position over the past 30 years in the country.”
“In observing recent attempts by some countries to fracture the unity of the Islamic world, the organization feels a special responsibility to look towards the Quran and help strengthen Islamic unity. Therefore, the organization has established the Holy Quran Council to perform activities during the month of Ramazan,” he added.
He continued, “The organization has divided its activities into three major categories, the first of which is to hold Quranic activities in 30 foreign countries commemorating the 30th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
“Secondly, activities also include organizing an international section of the Quran exhibit in Tehran and inviting foreign countries to display their artwork at the exhibition. The organization’s third focus is to commemorate International Qods Day, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramazan,” he explained.
Vaezi also remarked that improved programming is needed to present Quranic activities in better ways throughout the world, adding, “We are determined to recognize the potential inside our country and collaborate with other organizations in foreign countries such as Kuwait, Syria, Britain, Tajikistan, India, Austria, France and Indonesia.”
“An enduring cultural work must be arranged based on the cultural background of each region to attract wider audiences, so we are trying to get help from Iran’s cultural office in other countries to improve programs,” he concluded.
