IRIB wastes money by purchasing Chinese and Korean films: veteran dubber
TEHRAN – Veteran dubber Bahram Zand has said that Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting has actually wasted its money by purchasing Chinese and Korean TV series over the past few years.
“When TV doesn’t show good films or TV series, people either turn it off or watch programs aired on other foreign channels via satellite,” Zand told the Persian service of MNA on Saturday.
“IRIB actually wastes its money by buying Chinese and Korean TV series and this actually goes back to its management,” he added.
He also said that it is not the dubbing department that decides on purchasing foreign series and films, adding that IRIB Media Trade is responsible for providing the productions.
He also asserted that the Korean and Chinese productions are not well received by people and out of fifty films and series, just one might be influential. Therefore spending money on these productions is a waste of money.
“We need to attract the attention of the audience first and then, if we believe IRIB is a national university, ask people to sit and listen to our words. If we only ask them to sit and listen to the lessons, they will not be attracted,” Zand concluded.
