Thai Man Falls to Death With Infant Son

BANGKOK A 30-year-old Thai man, allegedly suffering from depression after his wife left him, fell to his death as did his three-year-old son over the weekend, news reports said Monday. Likhit Sanpasiri, a dishwasher, allegedly jumped off the rooftop of Bangkok's mall department store holding his son Chalit in his arms. Both father and son died in the fall, said the Nation newspaper. Likhit's employer later told police the man had been depressed after his wife left him, complaining to colleagues that he could no longer feed his son.
According to the mental health department at Thailand's Ministry of Health, there were 262 reported suicides in the first six months of 1999. (DPA)
