Yemen's Ansarallah says ready to join the Islamic Republic to confront US-Israeli war on Iran
TEHRAN- Yemen's Ansarallah is ready to join the fighting against the US and Israel if the militia’s military capabilities are needed, a news report says.
“We stand fully militarily ready with all options,” one Houthi leader, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the topic, told Reuters news agency.
“As for other details having to do with determining zero hour, they are left to leadership, and we are monitoring and following up with the developments and will know when the suitable time is to move,” he added.
“Until now, Iran has been doing well and is defeating the enemy every day, and the battle is going in its direction. If anything contrary to this happens, then we can assess.”
If the Ansarallah open a new front in the conflict, one obvious target would be the Bab al-Mandeb Strait off the coast of Yemen, a key shipping chokepoint and narrow passageway that controls sea traffic towards the Suez Canal after Iran effectively shut the critical Strait of Hormuz.
Al Jazeera also quoted Ansarallah leader Abdel Malek al-Houthi as saying that Ansarallah is ready to act despite not yet joining the fighting.
“At the slightest development in the conflict calling for a military response, we will intervene without delay … as we did in previous phases,” he said.
