China: Li Peng Visit to Japan Difficult to Make

BEIJING China said Wednesday it would be difficult for Li Peng, the country's second most powerful politician, to travel to Japan because of an ongoing row over a visit by former Taiwan president Lee Teng-Hui. "It is difficult for Li Peng to visit Japan in the near future," a Foreign Ministry spokesman told AFP. The general affairs office of the National People's Congress has informed the Japanese diet of this decision, he said, without elaborating.
