"Mad & Well" Nominated for 2004 IBBY Prize

TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) -- "Mad & Well" written by the Iranian author Mohammadreza Shams was nominated for the 2004 International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) prize, said the director of Children Book Council's library Shahla Eftekhari on Thursday.

IBBY is a non-profit organization which was founded in Zurich, Switzerland in 1953. It represents an international network of people from all over the world who are committed to bringing books and children together.

"Mad & Well" has already chosen by the Children Book Council as the Special Book of the Year 2002. It has also taken the Golden Plaque of Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) and the Golden Pen of Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in 2002.

Behrouz Gharibpour for his book "Myth of Lazy Hero," Bahram Kha'ef for illustration of "World of Rainbow," and Hassan Ebrahimvand for translation of Louis Sachar's work "Holes" were on the 2002 IBBY Honor List.

The list is a biennial selection of outstanding, recently published books, honoring writers, illustrators and translators from IBBY member countries.
