TEHRAN (IRNA) – Head of Iran-Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce Ala Mir-Mohammad Sadeqi here Sunday called on its members in Afghanistan to become more active.

Speaking at a meeting of Iran's Chamber of Commerce with President Hamid Karzai and his entourage, he said that given the great number of common grounds, further cooperation will have a very positive impact on bilateral trade relations.

He said that more than 250 economic institutions are members of Iran-Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce, adding that unfortunately, the level of trade exchanges is still less than that of the potentials, facilities and expectations of both sides.

Sadeqi said that the assessments of current problems, offering strategies and advices to the officials of the two sides through their national chambers as well as proper and on-time dissemination of information to the members are some of the most important goals of joint chambers.

Meanwhile, he called for facilitating the issue of residence permit for investors and tradesmen of both sides in each other's countries and assistance in supplying high quality fuel for industrial units.

Sadeqi also called for further cooperation of customs offices in releasing the raw materials and machinery required by industrial units and exporters of technical and engineering services, coming up with a single policy on customs tariff, expediting solving discords between tradesmen and owners of industries through the judicial system as well as easing transfer of liquidity.

Besides, he reiterated the need to benefit from the services of registered Afghan engineering and consulting companies and said that information on Afghanistan's development and industrial requirements should be availed to the private sector through joint chamber.
