Dey Gallery to pay tribute to sculptor Zand

TEHRAN -- Tehran’s Dey Gallery will hold a visual art exhibit in commemoration of the late painter and sculptor Iraj Karim Khan Zand.
Entitled “From Past…to Tomorrow”, the showcase will be open from July 3 to 22 during which a selection of works created by Zand himself will go on display.Artworks by Iranian artists including Mohammad Ehsaii, Sohrab Sepehri, Bahman Mohasses, Farideh Lashaii, Ebrahim Haqiqi, Nasser Oveisi, Mehdi Yektaii and Masud Arabshahi will also go on display during the event.
Iraj Karim-Khan Zand died of cancer at the age of 54 in December 2006.
Born in 1952, Zand was a student of Mohsen Vaziri-Moqaddam, one of the pioneers of modern art in Iran. He also had been a university student in Paris.
Zand displayed such great skill in his metal sculptures, that his works in this medium are called the “beautiful melodies of iron.”
