Iran exports over 3.3m tons of cement and clinker

TEHRAN - Iran exported 3.34 million tons of cement and clinker in the first three months of this year, which began on March 20, the IRNA News Agency reported.
 
Some 2.89 million tons of cement and 449,400 tons of clinker were exported in the mentioned period of time.
 
Iran’s cement production capacity will be increased by 6.8 million tons to reach 82 million tons by the end of this year, said Industry, Mines and Trade Ministry official Mohammad Fatemian in May.
 
“The country’s cement production capacity stood at 76.4 million tons in the past calendar year, which ended on March 19,” he said, the IRIB reported.
 
Over 10.4 million tons of cement was exported last year, he said, adding that the figure is projected to rise to 15 million tons this year.
 
Iran produced over 66.4 million tons of cement last year, showing an 8 percent rise compared to the year before, according to the IRNA News Agency.
 
Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Mehdi Ghazanfari has announced that the country's current cement production capacity stands at 74 million tons. Ghazanfari added that the figure will reach 110 million tons by 2015.
