Iran agrees to launch technical-vocational centers with Oman, China

TEHRAN – Iran has reached agreements with Oman and China to boost higher education cooperation by establishing technical-vocational centers with the two countries.

The deputy science minister for education, Qasem Amu-Abedini, held separate meetings with his Chinese counterpart and with Omani Higher Education, Research and Innovation Minister, Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrooqi.

The officials met on the sidelines of the 42nd session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) which is being held in Paris from November 7 to 12, IRNA reported.

They agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding to take necessary actions for implementing the agreements in the near future.

Iran, Oman share experience in ICT

On October 27, a discussion session was held between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of information and communication technology.

The Omani side was headed by Saeed bin Hamoud al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, while the Iranian side was represented by Issa Zarepour, Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Times of Oman reported.

During the session, bilateral relations were reviewed, and discussions were held on strengthening the existing cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the fields of information and communication technology, in a way that serves their common interests and brings more benefits to the two friendly peoples.

The two sides stressed the importance of benefiting from the expertise and experiences in the information and communication technology sector, which contributes to strengthening cooperation in this field.

The Iranian official also met with Al Mahrooqi and the head of the country’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed joint academic and research collaborations and made suggestions about the axes of these collaborations.

 Referring to the activities of Iran’s Communications and Information Technology Research Institute, Zarepour introduced the capacities of this institute and other Iranian technology parks and called for joint cooperation of Oman’s Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation with Iranian institutions.

The Omani minister welcomed this proposal and it was agreed that by forming a working group, the existing axes for cooperation will be examined and explored in expert meetings.

Iran, China hold meeting on technology

On July 10, Iranian Vice President for Science and Technology, Rouhollah Dehqani Firouzabadi, and Deputy Secretary of China's Communist Party in autonomous Xinjiang Province, Li Yifei, held a meeting in Tehran on expanding relations in the field of technology.

Referring to the capacities of China and Iran in technological and economic cooperation, Dehqani said: “In this regard, China hosts an Iranian technology and innovation center, which, in addition to providing knowledge-based and technological products and services, operates as a scientific and technological consultant.”

Fortunately, serious attention to science and technology in recent decades has provided a basis for Iran to use science and technology as a key axis in international interactions, he highlighted.

“Also, in the field of market development, we are ready to expand cooperation in the field of knowledge-based companies.”

The Chinese official, for his part, considered Iran's support and motivation to develop technological interactions valuable and productive.

"Iran has achieved notable achievements in industry, technology, and innovation, especially in the field of health and improving people's lives. This is admirable and shows that Iran has been successful in dealing with problems and limitations by using innovative solutions,” he added.
