TEHRAN One Basiji and one reformist student opposed Heshmatollah Tabarzadi's plan for the so-called mass rally on Oct. 6. The Basiji (a member of mobilization force) student Hosseini and reformist student Siavash Afzali told the TEHRAN TIMES, "Nobody should be allowed to act against the law, and any illegal measures should be stopped immediately.
" They were expressing their views about an interview given by Tabarzadi to the pro-monarchist Los Angeles Radio in which he announced the formation of the so-called United Democratic Front and called on students to join a mass rally at Tehran University on Friday. "In the past, he (Tabarzadi) also took similar illegal measures, but they were all bound to failure," Hosseini pointed out. He added, "I'm sure the officials of Tehran University will not give him permission to hold the illegal rally.
" Hosseini revealed that just a few years ago, a bank account was opened in Los Angeles by some pro-monarchist elements in order to extend financial assistance to Tabarzadi. Afzali also expressed regret that by holding such illegal rallies, Tabarzadi is tarnishing the image of the students. "Tabarzadi has always tried to act on behalf of the students, but has always damaged their reputation," he further said.
