Wife of Ayatollah Khamenei succumbs to wounds from US-Israeli strike
TEHRAN – The wife of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, passed away on Monday after succumbing to injuries she sustained during U.S.-Israeli strikes two days earlier.
According to an announcement by Iran’s national Television, she fell into a coma following the attack.
On Saturday morning, the U.S. and Israel struck Ayatollah Khamenei’s office in central Tehran, a location he had been using for over three decades and whose address was public information. Ayatollah Khamenei was martyred during this attack.
The Leader’s residence was in very close distance to his office, where his wife was located at the time of the assault. Two of his children also lived in nearby homes. His daughter, Boshra, along with her husband and their two children—one of whom was a 14-month-old girl—were also killed during the U.S.-Israeli bombardment. Another home in the area belonging to one of Ayatollah Khamenei’s sons was also struck by the two regimes, resulting in the passing of the Leader’s daughter-in-law.
Ayatollah Khamenei and his wife lived together for over 40 years. They had a total of six children.
Israeli and Western media had been reporting for months that the Leader was hiding in underground bunkers, even though he was holding and broadcasting frequent meetings with the Iranian people and Iranian officials. Ayatollah Khamenei’s passing has caused masses of Iranian people to take to the streets in mourning in recent days.
The Iranian Armed Forces began retaliation against Israel and the U.S. less than two hours after the assassination and have continued to pummel the occupied territories as well as U.S. bases in the region non-stop. They have stated they will continue their attacks.
