TEHRAN MP from Tehran Mohammadreza Khatami here Monday denied a claim by a publication that President Mohammad Khatami has decided not to run for 8th presidential elections, slated for June 8, 2001.

A periodical in its recent edition claimed that President Khatami had announced his decision not to run for the next presidential elections, in a meeting held recently.

Mohammadreza Khatami, brother of President Mohammad Khatami told IRNA that he could say for sure that no such a meeting had been held and the president had not made such a remark to this effect.
