TEHRAN New French Ambassador to Iran Francois Nicoullaud on Wednesday delivered a copy of his credentials to Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi.

At the meeting, Nicoullaud described Iran-France relations as very significant and said that France is willing to develop multilateral relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The new ambassador said that France is keen on enhancement of the level of regional and international cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and would do its best in this respect.

Kharrazi said Iran and France have significant relations adding that Iran is the gateway to the Central Asia and the energy market in the region, according to IRNA report.

The Iranian foreign minister said that Iran-France cooperation in Central Asia and the energy market would benefit both the European Union (EU) and Iran and recommended that France make use of existing potentials in both countries.

Nicoullaud replaces his predecessor Filippe de Suremain.
