TEHRAN The Iraqi Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has freed a UN driver who was detained on charges of carrying explosives.

The release came after a meeting between the local governor affiliated to the KDP and the UN oil-for-food program coordinator in Baghdad. After the meeting, it was announced that the driver had nothing to do with the discovered explosives.

The Iraqi government had officially asked the KDP to release the UN employee.

However, after releasing the UN driver, the local governor announced that the KDP would continue with its investigations into the case.
