ANKARA -- The Turkish government has no immediate plans to submit another motion to Parliament on deploying U.S. troops here for a possible Iraq war, a ruling party official said Sunday, a day after MPs rejected a similar motion.

"The motion has been postponed indefinitely. There is no motion in the foreseeable future," Eyup Fatsa, deputy chairman of the Justice and Development Party's parliamentary group, was quoted by the Anatolia News Agency as saying.

He was speaking after several hours of talks at AKP headquarters here between government and top party officials after Parliament rejected a government motion on allowing 62,000 U.S. soldiers to use the country as a base for a possible attack against Iraq.
